Information
Since 2012, Tesla’s network of super charging stations has been developed for a long time. As part of its rapid expansion, at the end of May this year, including ten supercharger stations in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, Tesla's new expansion plan has included a total of 1,000 supercharger stations in the construction or licensing phase.
In the past year and a half, Tesla has expanded the scale of super charging stations in North America on a large scale. Now the coverage has reached most of North America, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East, and the global cumulative number has exceeded 1 Ten thousand.
There is no doubt that despite the production problems, the relatively complete network of super charging stations has played a very important role in Tesla's brand promotion and also increased sales. However, the current way of operating Tesla's super charging stations has also been far from Tesla's initial promise.
Before 2017, Tesla owners were completely free to use super charging stations. Tesla provided the owners with the necessary infrastructure for long-distance travel free of charge and relatively complete Internet penetration. And Tesla's move once caused headaches for many competitors considering cost, especially those start-up electric car companies that are not backed by traditional automakers.
Although the network of super charging stations is already very large at present, there is a big gap in experience in different regions. Although there are super charging stations available in some countries and markets, most of them are built in the suburbs and are still difficult to find in the central area of the city.
The other is competition. Many automakers, including Porsche, have also announced plans to build their own charging networks. Although the growth rate of opponents is still relatively slow at present, we have seen that Tesla is not the only "player" in this field, but has established an advantage due to its early start. However, at present, it will take a long time for competitors to surpass Tesla in the construction of charging networks.
